Remote Desktop Control (RDP) for AWS RDS SQL Server

Updated: Mar 29, 2022

Amazon RDS Custom for SQL Server was launched on October 26th, 2021. This service allows you to customize your database host (the underlying operating system) and the database server by applying special patches and changing the database software settings to support third-party applications requiring privileged access. You can take remote desktop control of the AWS RDS server for installing specific patches or modifying configurations.

Amazon RDS for SQL Server, currently available in Preview, allows customers to choose from among several Microsoft SQL Server editions and versions, then customize the instance's size, features, and characteristics of their RDS Database Instances to precisely match the database software configuration they need. Amazon RDS takes care of routine database administration tasks, including managing replication and upgrading the database software if needed. The service also provides backup options that allow seamless recovery of data in the event of a disaster. Finally, as your business grows, you can use Amazon RDS's ability to scale up or down capacity by running multiple identical database instances simultaneously to avoid over-provisioning capacity.
